Kansas City, Mo. - An unusual fundraiser is coming to Kansas City next month.
The Great Golf Ball Drop benefits the Brian Anselmo foundation. Brian's life was cut short at just 28-years-old. His father, Jerry Anselmo, runs the foundation in his son's honor.
"He had such a bright spirit. He had such a great future ahead of him. He was a scholar athlete at Rockhurst High School, scholar athlete at Mizzou, and then he turned from a city boy into a turkey farmer," Jerry Anselmo said.
At the event, a helicopter will drop hundreds of golf balls over the green at Shamrock Hills Golf Club in Lee's Summit. The closest golf ball to a marked pin will earn someone $5,000.
The money raised will go toward some of Brian's favorite children's charities including Operation Breakthrough, Charlie's House and the special needs program at St. Thomas More Parish.
The ball drop is August 10th at Shamrock Hills Golf Club at 3161 S State Route 291 in Lee's Summit, Mo. One golf ball is $25 and five are $100.
