Help fight heart disease with the Go Red for Women campaign

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - February 1 marks the 10th anniversary for the Go Red for Women movement, and the Kansas City Chapter has a lot in store for people who want to help fight heart disease. The group is working to raise awareness about women's number one killer through research and education.

Go Red for Women Ambassador LaTasha James stopped by 41 Action News to give viewers a preview.

Red Dress Dash:

Friday, Feb. 1 on the Country Club Plaza, Start: Sheraton Suites End: Granfallon Time: 5:30-8 p.m.

Throw on your favorite red dress over your winter clothing and Dash on The Plaza in support of women's heart health. It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, you are asked to support the fight of the number one killer of women.

Girls Day Out & Casting Call:

Friday, Feb. 2 inside Zafar Salon at Power & Light District. Time: 1-4 p.m.

Share your story - whether you or a loved one has experienced heart disease, for a chance to become a local or national Go Red for Women spokesperson. Bring a friend and enjoy a pampered day out with the girls.

Panera Bread locations: Crown Center; 135th and Metcalf; 103rd and State Line Road.

Show up wearing red and you will get $1 off any breakfast sandwich and a free red pin.
