Kansas City, Mo. - A documentary called "Slingshot" is showing at the Kansas City Film Festival this weekend.
It follows inventor Dean Kamen and his innovative approach to the planet's water crisis. Kamen is most famous for inventing the segway.
But, Kamen takes on a new challenge in this film. The looming water crisis, something that is very important to him. Kamen's goal is to build a system that can be easily implemented into small villages in undeveloped countries.
"About 50 percent of all human disease on this planet today is a result of water pathogens. Bad water is responsible for 2 million deaths per year and almost all of them are kids under 5 years old," Kamen said.
By the end of the film, you can see how the purification system is helping many people.
If you want to catch the film, it is showing at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at Palace on the Plaza.
