Brian Bracco to lead Scripps stations KSHB and KMCI in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Brian Bracco, one of the television industry's most-respected news executives, has been named vice president and general manager for KSHB  & KMCI, effective December 3, 2012.

The veteran newsman is returning to his Kansas City roots where he had tremendous success as news director for more than a decade at KMBC. Most recently, Bracco was the vice president of news for Hearst Television, Inc.

"Brian Bracco will provide strong leadership at KSHB. He is vastly qualified to motivate and inspire his staff to become the go-to source for news and investigations in the market. He also will lead the charge for creative sales solutions for current and future customers."

Before moving into news management, Bracco worked in the journalism field as a managing editor, reporter and anchor in Wichita, Kan., Columbus, Ohio, and Birmingham, Ala. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas.

"With his years of experience in cultivating winning news organizations, his knowledge of the Kansas City market and his strong leadership skills, Brian is the ideal candidate for this role," added Lawlor. Bracco is a past chairman of the ABC news advisory board. He also is a member of the Radio Television News Directors' Association.
