8-year breast cancer survivor Lisa Coyne is thriving

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A breast cancer survivor says she's thriving as she prepares for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

On Tuesday, we spoke to 8-year cancer survivor Lisa Coyne, a hospice nurse who caught her breast cancer early by following up on recommended mammograms.

Two years ago, Coyne pushed her way through the Race for the Cure in a wheelchair.

So many people were touched by her story, the nonprofit organization Cancer Action gave her the Cancer Survivor of the Year award.

"Every single day I wake up and I say, 'Good morning God. Good morning Holy spirit. Good morning Lord.' Every single day is an adventure. Every single day is thriving. It's not so bad," Coyne said.

She plans to be at the upcoming Komen race this Sunday morning.
