Jenna Hanchard - Reporter

Jenna Hanchard is an award-winning reporter and a fill-in anchor for 41 Action News. She joined the station in June 2012 and reports for the 10 p.m. broadcast and has a passion for telling stories that empower local communities.

Jenna has covered a wide range of stories impacting those on both sides of the state line. She spent months uncovering complications with KanCare, the state-run Medicaid program in Kansas, which led her to report on the program’s crucial state policy changes.

Jenna has also thoroughly covered education in districts across the metro. Through her reporting, she has explored the potential impacts of the student transfer law on families in Kansas City, Mo. Jenna’s detailed reports on digital literacy in the Kansas City, Mo., School District provided a deeper look at the issues of access and achievement in urban districts.

Most recently, Jenna traveled to Colorado for an in-depth look at local families using medicinal marijuana to save their children suffering from epilepsy.

Jenna comes to 41 Action News from WBNG-TV in Binghamton, NY where she was an anchor and reporter for the evening broadcasts where she covered the historic flood of September 2011. In her mud covered boots, Jenna hopped in a small plane with her camera and took an aerial tour of the affected areas. She was recognized for her trip in the sky in June 2012. The New York State Broadcasters Association awarded WBNG with the Best Locally Originated Newscast, which featured Jenna's story.

Jenna graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, History and French Language, Literature, and Culture. Jenna has had a broad television experience through internships at NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and with NBC Sports in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics.

Jenna is proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. When she's not reporting, Jenna enjoys spending time with friends, traveling and eating. The fabulous foodie loves trying new restaurants and can't get enough Kansas City BBQ!
