Syed Shabbir is thrilled to return to his hometown as a reporter for 41 Action News. Syed started in December of 2011, and his work can be seen Monday through Friday on 41 Action News Today and 41 Action News Midday.
Syed loves the service he can provide as a reporter and says there's nothing better than using journalism to solve problems, raise awareness and make a difference. He enjoys the busy, fast-pace atmosphere of the industry and has a passion for developing well-told stories that impact the community.
Prior to being in Kansas City, Syed reported for WCPO in Cincinnati and KTKA in Topeka, Kansas. He shot, wrote and edited his own stories as well as anchored the morning news. His work won several awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Syed began his journalism career at KOMU 8 News, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri. There, he worked as a reporter, anchor and producer while completing his broadcast journalism degree from the University of Missouri.
Before college, Syed graduated from Blue Valley High School, and has two younger brothers who are currently enrolled in the Blue Valley School District.
Outside of work, Syed is an avid sports fan and loves cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Missouri Tigers. He loves watching movies and live music.
