KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After falling into bankruptcy, a law firm took over the West Edge Project, giving it new life and a new name
Now named the Plaza Development “Plaza Vista,” the new and improved building includes the Plaza’s newest hotel, Hotel Sorella.
Although the hotel is still under construction, the building exterior is completed and is slated to open in just a few months if all construction stays on track.
The hotel will open on November 6, after a number of failed attempts by other businesses to open on the west end of the Plaza.
It will have 7,000 square-feet of meeting rooms, 132 rooms, seven suites, a Presidential Suite, meeting rooms, a rooftop swimming pool, rooftop bar and rooftop restaurant.
According to General Manager Robert Leyva, the hotel will have approximately 100 employees and not only is the price tag for a room pretty high, but the employees with be paid well, too.
"It's going to be an up-scale, luxury, boutique hotel, but not too pretentious," Leyva said, "We're excited that we will be open in time for the Plaza Lighting Ceremony and then in January we will have a formal grand opening and throw a huge party."
