KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Randall Terry, a Democratic candidate for President in this spring's Missouri primary, purchased a spot in the 6:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m. news on KSHB-TV.
As a qualified candidate seeking to purchase air time, KSHB-TV has a legal obligation to broadcast Mr. Terry's ad. Failure to run the ad could put the station's license in jeopardy.
"Political discourse is crucial in an open and democratic society," said station General Manager Mike Vrabac. "While some individuals may not agree with his position, under FCC regulations, Mr. Terry has the legal right to run the ad in our state. The station cannot legally deny access or edit the spot in any way."
