Lindsay Shively - Reporter

Lindsay joined KSHB in May 2009 as a morning reporter and multimedia journalist. She is so excited to be back home in Kansas City!

Her career has sent her reporting across the country. She saw firsthand the devastation of the Joplin tornado, spending days on the ground telling stories of heartbreak and hope. In 2005, she traveled with kind Missourians to Louisiana to report on their help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She has chased tornadoes all over Kansas and covered every angle of the historic 2008 presidential elections. 41 Action News sent her to Wichita for minute-by-minute courtroom coverage of the trial of Scott Roeder, the Kansas City man convicted of killing Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller. She has loved traveling to bring viewers in the middle of March Madness from following her Missouri Tigers to Washington D.C. in 2011 to even KU’s amazing journey to the NCAA Championship down in San Antonio in 2008. Don’t worry, MU fans, she wore royal blue but never wore a Jayhawk, ha!

Her award-winning story telling was honored by the Kansas City Press Club in 2009, earning the Gold Award with the story of the possible arson of a small Kansas town’s century-old church. Her elementary school, Manor Hill Elementary in Liberty will honor her in the fall of 2011 as an outstanding Alumni.

Lindsay comes to KSHB from WIBW in Topeka, Kan. She started there as weekend anchor and reporter and worked her way up to weekday anchor of the number one, award-winning morning show and midday show. Lindsay also produced and co-anchored a holiday crime special credited by the Topeka police department for a significant drop in property theft.

Lindsay’s love for journalism and politics really flourished in college at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She began her career there, reporting for NPR affiliates across Missouri from the state Capitol. She also spent two years during college reporting and anchoring for KOMU.

Being a reporter has been Lindsay’s dream since childhood. She got her first taste of television news right here growing up in Liberty. She was an anchor and reporter for the school district’s cable channel in high school.

She also serves on the boards of the Northland Symphony Orchestra and the Kappa Holiday Homes Tour and always looks forward to Ice Cream Dreamery, the summer fundraiser she emcees for The Children’s Place.

The constant reporter, Lindsay loves exploring Kansas City and has never met a coupon she doesn’t like!!! She loves trying to learn new languages. Between Lindsay and her husband Sebastian, they speak four! They love to cook, run, and play with their two rascally wiener dogs named Ruby and Jackson.
