Garrett is thrilled to call Kansas City home after spending all of 2012 and most of 2011 traveling the country non-stop as the NBC News campaign embed covering Mitt Romney's presidential bid.
As an embed, Garrett followed the campaign through more than 35 states, reporting live on NBC Nightly News and MSNBC, as well as writing for NBCNews.com and shooting and editing video for all NBC platforms along the way.
Prior to his assignment as an embed, Garrett worked as an associate producer for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams in New York, where he covered stories ranging from the BP oil spill to tornado outbreaks in the South to heartwarming profiles of normal people making a difference in their communities.
Garrett was born in Colorado and raised mostly in Texas. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he became a Cowboys fan while working for the team as a production assistant. He's counting the years since the 'Boys last playoff win.
Garrett is an avid sports fan, and when he's not working he can probably be found watching or playing football, soccer or basketball, or exploring his new hometown, trying to learn as much as possible.
