Melissa Yeager is an award winning investigative reporter and a Kansas City native. She is thrilled to be in Kansas City investigating the community where she grew up.
Born in Lawrence, Kan., Melissa has spent much of her life in the Metro. She grew up in Gladstone, Mo., and made her television debut in the 7th grade delivering the announcements at Antioch Middle School.
Before high school, her family moved to Overland Park, where she attended Blue Valley Northwest High school. She graduated from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas and also was an intern at KSHB.
Prior to coming to KSHB for the second time, Melissa served as the Investigative and Call for Action reporter at WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Fla., where she won both an Emmy and Edward R. Murrow regional award for her work. She has also reported for television stations in Springfield, Mo., Fort Smith, Ark., and Topeka, Kan.
Melissa is also an avid runner having completed several half-marathons and the Marine Corp Marathon.
