KANSAS CITY, Kansas - Two best friends from Kansas City, Kansas, competed for $1 million on national TV Wednesday.
Michele Canon and Lindsay Russo, both 24, were contestants on Wednesday night’s “Minute to Win It”.
The two best friends met when Canon moved to Kansas City her freshman year and joined the cheerleading squad with Russo.
Russo is a humanitarian aid worker and takes teens on mission trips to third world countries building wells and churches. Within the last year, she started a project called, "Angel House" that builds orphanages in India.
Canon is currently studying to become a high school math teacher. She works as a waitress to pay her way through school.
Canon said the entire process of being on national TV took at least nine months. She said she sent an e-mail to the show and a couple months later, she received a response from the show. Hear more of what she had to say just hours before the show aired by clicking on the attached media player.

The show aired Wednesday evening on your NBC Action News station. There was also a watch party at Tanner’s in Shawnee, Kansas.
