Jackson family patriarch JOE JACKSON has been granted his day in court to fight for a portion of his late son MICHAEL's cash.

The Thriller hitmaker's 2002 will stated that his estate should be left in the hands of John Branca and John McClain in the event of his death, but the singer's father has been keen to contest the document since Jackson died last summer (Jun09).

He challenged the validity of the paperwork after it emerged his son was in New York on the date he is said to have signed the document in California.

Joe Jackson subsequently took legal action to have Branca and McClain disqualified, insisting his son's name was forged on the will, and that his name should have been included in the document.

On Thursday (02Sep10), a judge ruled that Joe Jackson's case will be heard at the California Court of Appeal on 6 October (10).
