The New York delicatessen worker who accused FOREST WHITAKER of shoplifting last week (ends17Feb13) has reportedly been fired.

The Oscar winner was frisked at the Milano Market in Manhattan after a store employee suspected Whitaker of stealing.

A representative for the actor revealed, "Forest did not call the authorities at the request of the worker who was in fear of losing his employment. Forest asked that, in the future, the store change their behavior and treat the public in a fair and just manner."

The owners of the store subsequently apologized to the star for the actions of a "misguided" employee, and now editors at the New York Post report the worker has been sacked over the incident.
