Patrick Duffy auditioned in underwear

DALLAS star PATRICK DUFFY won the role in 1970s sci-fi series MAN FROM ATLANTIS after auditioning in his underpants.

The actor was too poor to afford a bathing suit so was forced to turn up to the swim test for the TV programme's lead role of Mark Harris in his briefs - and he was stunned when he landed the part.

Duffy tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "I had to do a swim test for the role so we were told to bring a bathing suit... I was an incredibly poor carpenter at the time and didn't own a bathing suit or money to buy one. So I showed up in only my tighty-whities."
