HARRY POTTER star RUPERT GRINT is going from wizard to superhero after landing the lead role in a new U.S. TV show.

The British actor is set to film a pilot for Super Clyde, about a comic book-loving fast-food worker who decides to become a vigilante after coming into a huge inheritance.

The comedy, which will be Grint's first major small screen role, is the brainchild of My Name Is Earl writer Greg Garcia, and has been picked up by bosses at U.S. network CBS.

Grint is most famous for playing wizard schoolboy Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series, which came to an end in 2011.
