(NBC) - The James Bond movie franchise is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend, and it's no coincidence that with the next Bond film just around the corner current Double 007 Daniel Craig will be hosting "Saturday Night Live".

Craig is the sixth actor to play James Bond, a role Sean Connery originated 50 years ago in "Dr. No".

Craig's third bond film, "Skyfall" arrives November 9th.

Craig is not the first Bond to host "Saturday Night Live".

The previous Bond, Pierce Brosnan hosted back in may of 2001.
