OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Dozens of middle school students from two schools in China helped ring in Chinese New Year at Johnson County Community College.

The Kansas City Chinese American Association, KU Confucius Institute and Edgar Snow Memorial Foundation co-hosted the Chinese New Year Gala at Yardley Hall Sunday night.

The event featured martial arts, dance performances and singers. 

NBC Action News Morning Anchor JiaoJiao Shen emceed the event with KCCAA President, C.J. Wei.

The Chinese New Year Gala is the largest celebration of its kind in the region.
