KANSAS CITY, Mo. - It's been an incredible year for cinema -- full of memorable films audiences won't soon forget.

The most remarkable performances and films of the past year will be honored Sunday at the 85th Academy Awards.

It's a night full of very few surprises, because many of the awards have already been decided. Daniel Day-Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway have laid out pitch-perfect performances, destined for Oscar gold.

Other awards such as the best supporting acting category could be quite interesting with powerhouses Tommy Lee Jones, Christoph Waltz, Robert De Niro, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Alan Arkin going head-to-head. Each performance is equally stunning.

Sadly, this doesn't ring true for the best director. The statue will not be going to the most worthy recipient. Ben Affleck gave audiences the best picture of the year with Argo, but Affleck will not be rewarded for his accomplishments.

Argo will only walk away with three Academy Awards -- while other films will earn more hardware Sunday night. Look for Lincoln to get five Oscars and the 23rd Bond film, Skyfall to earn four.

The 2013 Oscars is shaking out to be the most intriguing race we've seen in a long time.
