KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Move over Matt Damon, Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner is taking over the Bourne series.

Renner stars as Aaron Cross, a new hero who's fate has been triggered by the events of the first three films.

It's based on The Bourne Legacy novel; the first in the series written by Eric Van Lustbader.

"You are only seeing one ring of the circus. One small portion of something that's much larger", said director Tony Gilroy.

Gilroy wrote all the Bourne scripts and is in the director's chair for the first time in this series.

The Bourne Legacy will be good, it's just a matter of how good.

There will be a satisfying amount of high-octane action. It will look realistic too.

"We had to get pretty inventive on how to keep it as realistic as possible without looking fake and just do things that have never been done", said Jeremy Renner.

Renner hasn't done a bad movie yet.

Since he received his Oscar nomination in 2010 for The Hurt Locker, he's never been better.

When you have this kind of talent, you know The Bourne Legacy will be special.

" The Bourne Legacy is raw, exciting, edgy, kinetic, dangerous, sexy and has heart", said co-star Rachel Weisz.

The one pitfall this movie may face this weekend, is that fans really enjoyed Matt Damon as Jason Bourne.

With Damon out and Renner in, fans could steer clear of The Bourne Legacy

I don't see this happening because everyone loves a good action movie.

Hollywood is due for some heart-pumping action, and The Bourne Legacy will be able to deliver.

The Bourne Legacy is rated PG-13 for violence and action sequences.

Runtime: 2 hours and 15 minutes.
