'Prometheus' is visually stunning, lives up to the hype

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ridley Scott's new alien movie delivers the goods, including captivating performances by Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace.

Prometheus is perfectly crafted and visually stunning.

95% of action movies these days look fake, but not this one.

When you get a 3-time Oscar nominated director, who comes from the world of handmade sets and original ideas, you know it's going to be something special.

 "We've tackled a lot of new ground, which opened up the door to a kind of different form of thinking; get bolder, get braver", said Ridley Scott.

Prometheus is about a group of explorers who discover a clue to the origins of mankind.

This leads them on one epic and dangerous journey.

"There's a lot of suspense and a lot of gruesome stuff", said Michael Fassbender.

There are more than a few "turn-your-head" type of moments in this movie, but it's artistically fitting.

When seeing the film, it feels like a re-imagination of the original 1986 Alien.

It's not until the end (spoiler alert!) where we get clarification this is a prequel.

"He didn't just go back to his Alien days. He's not just giving that again. He's really giving us something that's very, very original", said Charlize Theron.

Prometheus is truly a feast for the eyes and a must-see in 3D.

It's the best film of the summer.

Prometheus is rated R for sci-fi violence including some intense images and brief language.
