KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kanrocksas music festival brought huge crowds to the Kansas Speedway in August 2011. Despite a successful inaugural event, Kanrocksas organizers say they will take this summer off to plan the second Kanrocksas in the summer of 2013.
Organizers cite the ongoing construction project at the speedway as the main reason. Kanrocksas will use the extra time to draw more big name acts, add amenities and look for new trends in technical features.
Last summer, music lovers from all over the country flocked to KCK for the three day festival. The line-up included such headliners as Eminem and Muse. Thousands camped on the grounds and enjoyed music to the wee hours of the morning.
The Kansas Speedway will spend the summer repaving the track and increasing the bank of the turns.
