KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Some of the Sunflower Showdown game became a "no show" for thousands of customers Monday night.

Time Warner Cable said they had some kind of outage on ESPN during the Kansas/Kansas State game.

It happened right before the tipoff.

Twitter blew up Monday night with angry fans.

Time Warner responded to many of their customers through Twitter but for many, that was not enough.

Time Warner is still figuring out what happening.

The game was restored around 9:15 p.m.

Time Warner scheduled to re-broadcast the game at 12:30 a.m. on ESPNU.

Tuesday afternoon, Dave Borchardt, spokesman for Time Warner Cable Kansas City/Lincoln, released the following statement:

"Last night, Time Warner Cable's receiver failed to respond to a change in satellite frequencies initiated by ESPN. Our engineers worked diligently to resolve the issue, and we were able to restore service for the second half of the game. We continue to proactively test our equipment to prevent future outages. During the first half of the game, all TWC video customers were still able to watch the game on their desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones via the “WatchESPN” app and WatchESPN.com, but we certainly understand the frustration of fans who could not watch the first half of the game on their televisions, and we apologize for their disappointment."
