A Lenexa organization is hoping for help Thursday night.  HappyBottoms works to provide diapers for metro families in need and is run by volunteers.

"To run HappyBottoms, it costs nearly $10,000 a month just to serve a thousand children and if we want to grow to meet Kansas City's need, which is 15,000 children in our community needing diaper assistance, we absolutely have to raise more money, raise awareness, get more diapers and so our fundraiser is designed to help us do that," says Executive Director Liz Sutherland.

HappyBottoms has more than 2,000 people on its waiting list.

"Nothing covers diapers and that was one of the things that shocked us when we started HappyBottoms.  You can't buy diapers with food stamps, you can't buy them with WIC funds.  So if you are a family in need, you really struggle to pay for diapers."

The organization will hold "Attitude of Gratitude", its first fundraiser, Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A $10 donation is suggested at the door.  The happy hour event will take place at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center.
