KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A child born a few minutes after midnight Tuesday morning wasn’t only the first child for a local couple, but the first born in 2013 in the Kansas City area.
Xiomara was born at 12:05 a.m. at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
Mother Vanessa Cruz says she and new daddy Nestor Olmo couldn’t be any happier.
She says she thought she’d have a New Year’s Eve baby.
“And then I didn't seem like I was progressing very much,” Vanessa said Tuesday afternoon from her hospital bed, “and then no joke, I started pushing at 12, and she came out at 12:05."
Last year’s first baby in Kansas City, Adelyn Guevara, was born Jan. 1, 2012 at 12:46 a.m. It was Rachel Guevara’s second child.
