KANSAS CITY, Missouri - It didn't take long for Boulevard's Chocolate Ale to disappear from store shelves.

The Kansas City Star reported that the Kansas City-based brewer's latest concoction sold out within hours of hitting store shelves Tuesday. Some stores even limited customers to one or two bottles.

For those who missed it in bottle form, there is still hope. Bars that carry Boulevard's seasonal Smokestack Series beers will have it on tap until the kegs run dry.

Besides the 19,200 champagne bottles Boulevard produced, there are another 350 one-sixth-barrel kegs of Chocolate Ale.

The beer is the creation of a brewmaster Steven Pauwels and gourmet chocolate chef Christopher Elbow.

Boulevard owner John McDonald says there are no immediate plans to make more.

But perhaps, he says, next year for Valentine's Day.
