KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The head chef at one of Kansas City’s most iconic restaurants is packing up her knives after two successful runs.
Debbie Gold has been the executive chef at The American Restaurant since 2008. Before that, she had served as the restaurant’s co-executive chef from 1994 to 2001.
Gold won the coveted 1999 James Beard Award and appeared on seasons 2 and 4 of Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters.” Her last day at The American will be on April 13.
“One can’t say enough about what Debbie has meant to The American,” general manager Jamie Jamison said. “We hope this is a great move for her and wish her every success.”
Jamison said a nationwide search was underway for a replacement for Gold, who plans to stay in Kansas City.
