KANSAS CITY, Mo - If you want to eat at an exemplary food service establishment, in the eyes of the Kansas City Health Department, you may want to head to some of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
Kitchens at Kauffman and Arrowhead stadiums, Sprint Center, Ameristar Casino, Starlight Theater Crown Center, Boulevard Brewery and Worlds of Fun are among the hundreds of establishments who received a Grade A food excellence award for calendar year 2012.
Coming in from out of town? You’re in luck, because several of Kansas City International Airport’s kitchens made the grade as well.
To receive a Grade A food excellence award from the Kansas City Health Department, establishments must meet a series of seven criteria, including a limit on critical and non-critical violations, compliance with food handler requirements, an absence of repeat violations from the previous year and others.
Other restaurants to receive the award include Denny’s, 3832 Blue Ridge Cutoff; Longhorn Steakhouse of Liberty, 9400 NE Barry Road; McDonald’s 11001 Hickman Mills Drive; Arby’s 8621 N. Oxford St.; and several Subway, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Starbucks, Burger King and Taco Bell locations.
Dozens of schools also earned the distinction of a Grade A food excellence award winner, including: A.L. Renner School, Barry School, Briarcliff School, Chinn Elementary School, Congress Middle School, Crestview Elementary School, English Landing Elementary School, Hawthorn Elementary School, Ingels Elementary School, Lakeview Middle School, Lakewood School, Liberty Oaks Elementary School, Maplewood Elementary School, Northwood School, O’Hara High School, Park Hill High School, Plaza Middle School, Raytown Middle School, Staley High School and many others.
