KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A smorgasbord of free treats is available this weekend.

Hit all three and you’ll be able to get a boost of energy, have a chicken sandwich and top it off the next day with dessert.

The freebies start Friday at Starbucks and Chick-fil-A.

Starbucks is offering free 12-ounce servings of their new energy drink ‘Refreshers’ from noon to 3 p.m.

An advertisement on the coffee giant’s website ( www.starbucks.com ) says the new drinks are made with real fruit and calls them “a breakthrough in natural energy.”

Once you’re energized, you can head over to Chick-Fil-A for a free entrée, side item and beverage. There’s a catch though. You’ll have to dress like a cow from head to foot. Yup, seriously.

If all you’ve got is a cow accessory, the restaurant will still give you a free entrée, minus the side and drink.

You can even download a “Cow Starter Kit” at chick-fil-a.com

And what’s a good meal without a dessert? Well, you’ll have to pay for your dessert Friday, but on Saturday, you can head to Dippin’ Dots for a free sample of their new Clusterz, described on their website as ice cream dots clustered with rich crunchy chocolate.

You’ll have to head to www.dippindots.com to download a coupon for the free treat, which is only redeemable from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

As is the case with any free treat giveaway, we suggest checking with the location you plan on heading to to make sure they are participating.

Newsome jumps to fitness at Sky Zone

My latest workout took me to a place in Shawnee, Kan., where kids can jump to their hearts content and adults can join in the fun. That place is Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park. I tried their SkyRobics Fitness class.
