Talk like a pirate at Krispy Kreme on Wednesday and get a free doughnut

If you’re in the mood for a snack, you can get your hands on a complimentary doughnut Wednesday, but you’ll have to shiver your timbers to get the free treat.

In celebration of National Talk Like a Pirate Day, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is offering customers a free regular glazed doughnut to anyone who spouts out an “Ahoy Matey,” “Thar She Blows!” or a “Yo Ho Ho.”

Other pirate terms will get you by too, but those are just three suggested on Krispy Kreme’s website .

The doughnut maker, with three Kansas City-area locations, is taking the offer up a notch, too. Walk into a store dressed like a pirate and you’ll walk out with a dozen free doughnuts, minus any you munch on before you leave.

On the Kansas side of the metro, there are Krispy Crème stores in Overland Park and Merriam. The third area location is in Independence, Mo.

An employee at the Independence store confirmed Tuesday night the Kansas City-area stores are taking part in the nationwide promotion, but we always advise in free food giveaways to contact your local store before heading out to take advantage of a free food offer.
