KANSAS CITY, Mo. - If you're looking for great examples of American fare, three area restaurants are among the nation's best.

The American Restaurant in the Crown Center area, Bluestem in Westport and Story in Prairie Village were selected for OpenTable's Diner's Choice Award for the Top 100 American Fare Restaurants in America, according to an OpenTable news release.

The awards came after more than 5 million reviews from restaurant customers across the country.

Bluestem and the American Restaurant consistently rank among the city's and country's top restaurants.

Story is owned and run by Carl Thorne-Thomsen and his wife, Susan.

Thorne-Thomsen serves as the restaurant's chef.
