KANSAS CITY - Electrical systems are intimidating and dangerous - that's why most of us ignore basic warning signs that a problem might be lurking.

Many homeowners continually overload their wiring system by plugging in appliances that overload the circuits. If a breaker trips more than once, it's time to have someone fix the problem.

Many electricians offer a yearly home inspection that includes testing all circuits, tightening all connections, and even changing the batteries in your smoke detectors. You should expect to pay $100 to $150 for the service.

If your home is ten years or older, it's time to look into an annual inspection program. Make sure any company you choose has been in business for at least five years and is fully licensed and insured.

See you next week!
