Mow your lawn once more before the heavy snow

Mowing your lawn one last time before we receive any heavy snow is essential to avoiding winter kill problems where tall grass gets matted down by ice and snow.

Lower your mower height to two inches and mow one final time. Be sure any frost has melted from night before. This is also a good time to pick up those final leaves covering your grass. When you're done mowing, don't just sit the mower aside for the winter unless you want to pay for fixing it next season.

To winterize your mower, fill the fuel tank completely. Put a fuel conditioner in it and run it for a good five minutes.  Get rid of the excess gas you have left over. Just remember - tuning up your lawn mower now means you won't have to wait in those long lines next spring. Have a great week!
