KANSAS CITY - The number one question I've been asked lately: "Toby, does it hurt to shut off vents in unused rooms at this time of the year?" The answer is, yes it does!

A lot of us shut off vents to rooms we don't use in the winter, but the truth is you're creating a traffic jam for the air in your furnace and it's just making your furnace work harder.

Check and make sure you're not covering vents with carpet or furniture. The easiest way to get better comfort is to take a simple pair of needle nose pliers and re-direct the air at your vents into the living area.

See you next week!
