KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A local school is saving green by going green.
KCP&L announced the largest energy system in the Kansas City area will be at Paseo Academy of the Arts.
Friday, cranes lifted solar panels onto the school's roof.
The installation is part of the project to integrate renewable energy.
It also gives students a lesson in energy consumption.
"Along with the education component, we'll be providing a quote on quote kiosk, if you would to allow those students to monitor the usage and see how it will be impacted. If it was tied directly to school what benefits could be shown there and how much energy actually generated at different times of the year,” said Roland Maliwat of KCP&L.
The solar project should be done by December.
