The 12th Annual Pet Telethon benefiting the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is over, and people across the Kansas City area phoned in their donations.

The three hour telethon on March 4, 2012 was hosted by 41 Action News Chief Meteorologist Gary Lezak and 38 the Spot host Crystle Lampitt. Dogs of all ages made appearances throughout the night.

The telethon brought in more than $153,000. That’s about $6,000 more than last year.

The telethon is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.

The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is the oldest existing humane society in the Kansas City metro area. It became the area's first no-kill shelter in 1994. This year, it is celebrating 100 years of service.

A big thank you to everyone who donated over the phones or online!
