OLATHE, Kansas - Want to adopt an animal? Where else would you go than a car dealership? A spring pet adoption event filled the lot at Steve Tolbert Suzuki in Olathe on Saturday.

As part of the event, the dealership paid all on-site adoption fees.

Organizer Jennifer Hague said about 10 area shelters had animals available for adoption.

“So many animals are in the shelters and they just all need a loving home,” Hague said. “We just need to opt to adopt. They are just waiting and wanting their forever family that they can go home to.”

Hague said many of the dogs available for adoption were rescued from puppy mills. Others were breeder releases, and some were found as strays or dumped.

In all, nearly twenty dogs were adopted. Other businesses were there with free gifts and coupons. They plan to hold another adoption event this fall.

These rescue groups participated. If you are interested in animal adoption, you can contact one of them or any animal shelter.
