Kansas City, MO - This weekend, we're seeing the warmest temperatures so far this season and "Chain of Hope" tried to make sure area dogs stayed safe.
The organization made its rounds in inner Kansas City, Mo., making sure chained up pets had enough water to cool off.
Members also hung out fly traps, saying the insects are already causing problems.
"It''s a bad already," Kate Quiqley, director of Chain of Hope, said. "The bloody bloody ears started at the beginning of May from the flies, and probably because we had a mild winter, but they're terrible,"
The organization distributed a gel that can be put on dogs' ears to help them heal, and keep the flies from continuing to bite the dogs.
