KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The reputation of pit bulls has taken a new hit

A study released this week said pit bulls are more likely to kill people than other dog breeds.

The report is under intense scrutiny by animal advocates.

The article released by a group of doctors said pit bulls are more likely to kill, cause serious injuries, and their victims rack up higher medical costs.

Local animal advocate and blogger Brent Toellner said breed-specific dog band do not solve the problem.

“You find out a lot of information when you deal with the circumstances. That leads you down a different road on what causes the bites and attacks and it's not the breed of dog. It's usually the people who are involved and the surrounding situation that's involved,” he said.
