KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sleeping in separate beds, and even separate rooms, may make your relationships last longer.
Many couples don't get enough sleep because they wake up every time their significant other moves. Many couples also think it's unacceptable not to sleep together, so they deal with the lack of shut-eye.
A little more than 30 percent of married couples sleep apart, and according to studies, they sleep much better.
"When we actually monitor their brains, we see that their brain is not getting into deeper stages of sleep because they're continuously being woken up by movement or by sound," Colleen Carney with the Ryerson Sleep Lab said.
After sleeping apart for awhile, many couples actually say their marriage improved.
