KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The future of a former Waldo Middle School may lie in the hands of Walmart.
Thursday night, Kansas City Public Schools Repurposing Initiative discussed the next steps for the former Bingham Middle School.
Developers scrapped plans earlier this week to build a Hen House at the site.
Now, the district says a Walmart Neighborhood Market made a proposal for the space.
"We're going to be setting up a meeting for the community to meet directly with representatives from the Walmart Neighborhood Market, so that they can provide them with more details on the proposal," Shannon Jaax, KCPS repurposing initiative director, said.
The district is also accepting proposals and offers for four more closed school sites -- including Chick, Ladd, Marlborough and Pershing. The deadline for offers is Jan. 31.
