MERRIAM, Kan. - Whether you're building a new house or renovating an older one, you want to get the best bang for your buck. Tile & Stone Warehouse has carved out a niche helping folks do just that.

You'll find just about everything you can think of at the Merriam business. Their new 35,000 square foot facility in the old Fox Collision facility gives them plenty of room to show it off.

Glenn Philips started the business four and a half years ago with his business partner Carrie Wayne.

“Obviously we sell tile and natural stone,” Philips explains. “But what makes us different is that we have a huge selection of material, we keep the material in stock, and we do everything we can to keep the prices as reasonable as possible.”
“We sell to a lot of homeowners; we do work with a lot of contractors, remodelers, tile setters,” Wayne says.

You'll find a wide range of tile at a wide range of prices -- from low end to high end and specialty.

“I had the idea for a long, long time that there was room for somebody to be the TJ Maxx or the Marshall's of the tile business,” Philips says.

Tile & Stone Warehouse also promises great customer service. They have two designers on staff to guide your projects. And while the big box retailers might have one aisle of tile -- they offer you 24.
“So many places where you might buy tile or stone especially - you have to special order the product and you don't really know what you're getting,” Philips explains.  “There's a lot of variation in natural stone.  What we do is take some of what's in the crate and lay it out so there's, it's really obvious, what you're gonna get.”

And what you can't find in the store, they can often get too. Wayne says that’s especially true with accent pieces.

“We don't stock everything for everyone, so we do try to have some special order, unique types of items that we can get for people.  And this would be one of them... the glass that is really popular.”

Tile and Stone Warehouse will occasionally run liquidation sales for their vendors.  Glenn tells me they held one this past year where they sold tile and granite for as low as 10 percent of the retail costs -- so pay attention to those ads!
