KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The nation's largest online freight-shipping broker broke ground on a new facility in Missouri on Tuesday.
Freightquote.com is planning an expansion that will bring 1,200 new jobs to the state within the next three years.
The company began in 1998 with just three employees and has moved to eight new buildings since then.
The CEO and Kansas City Mayor Sly James hope Kansas City is their final home.
"This announcement is something warmer,” Mayor James said. “It means jobs for people in our community and it means continued economic vitality and growth for this community."
The company is building a new 200,000 square foot headquarters and office space.
They also have locations in Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
