The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce named a local real estate firm as its 2013 Small Business of the Year Wednesday.
Copaken Brooks, based in Kansas City with 101 employees, was honored at the chamber’s annual Small Business Awards Luncheon. It also won the Mr. K Award, given to a company that exemplifies growth, sustainability, community service, and employee relations.
“Kansas City has been a great home to our company, and small business is a big part of what makes our city so great,” Copaken Brooks principal Bucky Brooks said. “We are honored to be named one of Kansas City’s Top 10 Small Businesses, and it is especially gratifying for our recently-merged firm as we continue to dedicate ourselves to being a small business with a big impact.”
This year’s Top 10 finalists were also recognized at the luncheon. In addition to Copaken Brooks, they include: A.L. Huber, Arsalon Technologies, Coleman Industrial Construction, Data Locker, DuraComm, IDD InStore Design Display, Meers Advertising, Retina Associates, and Technology Group Solutions.
“One of the best things about this recognition is what it means to our staff – a heightened sense of pride in our company and an affirmation that what we do truly matters in so many ways,” Brooks said. “:Every member of the Copaken Brooks team makes a unique and vital contribution to our reputation and success, and we’re thrilled to be able to share this honor together.”
