KANSAS CITY, Mo. - This week Overland Park Police issued a scam warning about junk mail.
If you receive an offer either by phone, email or traditional snail-mail and question its legitimacy, police recommend using a 24-hour rule.
"Wait 24 hours. Don't rush down to the Western Union and send money to anybody," Overland Park Police spokesman Gary Mason said. "Ask somebody that you trust to look at it."
Police urge citizens to contact the following addresses about reducing the amount of junk mail you receive, essentially a "no-call list" for your mail:
ADVO, Inc
Customer Assistance
PO box 249
Windsor, Connecticut, 06095
Mail Preference Service
Direct Marketing Association
PO Box 643
Carmel, NY 10512
