Major Airlines Add Costs for Items

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is examining the increasingly troubling problem of hidden airline fees and is considering a requirement that airlines disclose those fees up front through all the places where consumers buy airline tickets.
A coalition of travel groups has also joined that bandwagon to a better flying experience. The travel group is gathering information from travelers to submit to the DOT. They’ve set up a special website just for that purpose: MadAsHellAboutHiddenFees.com.
The site features a petition calling for fee disclosure requirements that will be delivered to the United States Department of Transportation.
Travelers can also post their own war stories about hidden fees. So far, thousands of people have signed the petition, and hundreds have contributed comments and stories.
The last chance to submit a comment on the website will be September 23rd.
