August is the last lazy month of summer, and if you don't have children heading back to school you're probably thinking more of the beach than a shopping spree.
But August is actually a great time to do some shopping, if you know what to buy and what not to buy this month.
The website DealNews.com is just out with its list of things to buy and things to avoid this month.
What to buy....now
The "buy now" list starts with everything summer related. DealNews says August is the best time to buy:
-Summer apparel, with shorts, sleeveless shirts and beach wear up to 70% off.
-Patio furniture & grills, as stores are slashing prices to make way for Halloween and Christmas displays.
-Laptops, dorm, and apartment furniture, thanks to back-to-school sales.
What to wait on....
But DealNews says August is not the best time to buy:
-Fall clothing, like sweaters and long sleeve shirts: Hold off if you can.
-Tablets like the iPad, Kindle Fire, and Nexus 7 because all of them are expected to get updates in September, and at that point current models will go on sale.
If you are a student, however, you may want to consider an IPad, as you can get special deals at the Apple store this month, such iTunes gift cards. Apple is also offering special discounts on Macs for students with ID.
And student or not, if you need a new laptop this is a great month to buy. DealNews says you won't find such good laptop deals again until Black Friday in November.
As always, don't waste your money.
