She’s called the “Warren Buffet of Coupons,” and she wants to help you save money at the grocery store.
Teri Gault is the founder and CEO of members-only site TheGroceryGame.com.
She got into the game over a decade ago. Her website claims to help families save over $500 a month by using her tips.
“I always say shop the big picture, shop what's on sale,” Gault suggest. “ So instead of buying the first thing that we saw, even though it was a gigantic display, this is half the price of that over there."
Another one of Gault’s strategies is stacking. That’s when you select a sale item that the store is also offering a coupon and sometimes you can find a manufacturer’s coupon also.
“$5.29 a bottle, but with the coupon and the sale it’s $1.99 each. So we wash our clothes for cheap,” says Gault.
Gault also recommends you stock up on the staples before you need them.
“If you make a shopping list each week of what you’re out of, now you’re forced to pay full price for about eight out of 10 things that go in your cart. You need to know what you’re getting, when you’re going to get it and on what day. That’s smart shopping.”
