Sticker shock at the pumps is getting even worse in eight states starting this week.
It just got more expensive to drive in Wyoming, Connecticut, California, Maryland, Kentucky, Nebraska, Georgia and North Carolina.
The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy says those states just raised their gas tax by 10 cents.

The increase went into effect Monday, July 1.
But drivers in Virginia and Vermont are actually getting a break. The gas tax in those states decreased.
The federal gas tax has remained the same since 1993 at 18 cents a gallon
State and federal gas taxes are mainly used for road building and other transportation infrastructure projects.
